Guest Information
When you arrive at Dalaman you will require a £10 note (GBP) for each person travelling for a 3 month entry Visa, this includes children: You pay this before you go through Passport Control and its clearly marked.
- After baggage reclaim, exit the Airport and look for a Villa Baris display board: You will then be taken to the Villa by our hosts, which is about a 25 minute journey.
- You will not need to pay the driver until the return journey, the approximate cost of the return journey is approx £48 (110 YTL) for a 4 seater or £65 (150 YTL) for a mini bus.
- The Villa, Pool and Wall lights are on for when you arrive: Baris is the first Villa as you enter the first black gate.
- You can enter at the front door (near the gate) using the key with the squarer head in the bottom keyhole only, be sure to turn the key 3 times and then once more to open it.
- Make sure that you remove the keys from the main door when inside the Villa as if you accidentally close the door when leaving and the keys are inside then you will be locked out.
- We have recently had security doors fitted to the terrace doors, these have seperate keys so please ensure that you lock them before exiting the Villa, the patio doors only open from the inside so please close them from the inside and leave from front door when you go out.
- We have provided an information booklet, explaining about the Villa, contacts, places to visit etc which is in the lounge table drawer.
- We also have a 'Guest book’, which is worth reading to see what other people thought of Dalyan, its restaurants and day trips.
- Our address for baggage labels is 'Villa Baris, Kokluler Sokak (Street in Turkish), Dalyan, Mugla'.
- Villa Baris is in the old part of Dalyan and you will be living amongst local Turkish people, its next to a small farm so please remember to keep the gate closed to avoid letting the Turkeys and Chickens in, they play havoc with the grass!
- The council have now granted us a proper street lighting, so the track which leads to our Villa complex is a little less bumpy and dark (after 21:00).
- Directions to the town can be found in the information booklet:
- Turn right as you leave the gate until you reach the end of the track (Kokular Sokak)
- Turn right and keep walking until you come to a bend in a new road
- Bear left and take any of the next 3 roads to your right (all roads lead to Dalyan Town!)
- If you take the first or second right turn, turn left and this will take to past the new air conditioned Super Market and into the top of town
- If you take the third turn you will see a local Super Market (which is the one we use for papers, milk etc), turn right and carry on straight over the roundabout watching the traffic carefully (there are no paths and the locals don't drive like we do!) and you will enter the middle section of the town.
- If you go out on your first evening, it may be wise to get a taxi back as you may need to see it all in daylight before you try to find your back! taxis are cheap and a few YTL
- Our host is Ramazan Unlu, he owns the Ramazan Han Restaurant in town, which is just behind the famous Turtle Fountain in the centre.
- You will also see Mutlu, who works for Ramazan's and looks after the maintenance such as the Villa's, Grass, Pool etc.
- An early introduction to Ramazan is wise, he is in the Restaurant most days: He will help with anything at all e.g. trips, information, problems with Villa or Pool as will Tungay.
- You will also need to confirm return flight details with Ramazan 24 hours before departure so he can check flights are on time etc.
- On the day of your departure we would request that you are packed and showered by 2pm, to allow for the cleaners to prepare the Villa for our new Guests.
- You may use the Villa prior to departure day to make drinks etc, but please leave it clean prior to leaving the Airport.
- Please bring the keys home and returning them to us in a jiffy bag at the same address (18 Beaumaris Close, Andover, Hants, SP10 2UB): or by hand to Mark or Paul.
- We would politely remind you that Air Conditioning is extremely expensive so please therefore ensure it is switched off in all rooms every time you leave the Villa. An excess charge may occur if excessive electricity is used.
- To get to the beach you can either go by boat opposite Kordon Restaurant, Dolmus (Bus, means 'stuffed' in turkish!) or taxi - the boat journey is pretty cheap and is a wonderful experience in itself taking in some superb views not least the the famous Kaunos tombs - which incidentally you can see from our balcony in the main bedroom!
- Muharrem is our best friend in Dalyan, he is the Head Waiter at the Kordon Restaurant on the River Front, near the Public Boats (if you go to the Statue, and follow the path to the river and turn left, the Kordon is second on the left): Muharem will do anything for you and his, and Ramazan’s Restaurants (in our view) serve the best food in Dalyan, although they are all really good!
- Another great friend of ours is Erdem, he has a really lovely boat and will take you out on various day trips, moonlight tours to the peaceful lakes and mud baths etc: His English is excellent, his food is great and he is a lovely man: He may introduce himself if I tell him you are over, although he can also be found on his boat (the Blue Bead) opposite the Kordon, failing that Muharem will find him!
- For convenience we have also recently bought a 20 Litre Water Container Unit which is in the Kitchen, if you wish you can ask Muharem and he will get a 20 litre bottle delivered (if you leave the old one outside the Villa on the Terrace) to the Villa for only 4 YTL (£1.60): all you need to do then is pour the Water from the Container into one of the empty containers in the refrigerator to keep it cool and you'll never have to carry bottles of water from the shop in the heat again!
.
- I would recommend the following at least:
- Turkish Massage early on in the holiday, ask Muharem he'll sort it out for you
- A day boat trip with Erdem on the Blue Bead to Bacardi Bay, Ekincik etc
- The midnight cruise with Erdem to see the stars, mud bath etc
